Borrowing a temporary OV-chipkaart is subject to a number of usage rules and conditions.

• For whom is the replacement pass intended?

HTM provides a temporary OV-chipkaart with a replacement season ticket to travellers whose personal OV-chipkaart is broken. This is possible for passengers who have a monthly or annual Regio season ticket on their personal OV-chipkaart. For travellers, whose personal OV-chipkaart is lost or stolen, a temporary replacement season ticket is offered only for annual season tickets.

• This is how you get your deposit back

For the temporary OV-chipkaart you paid a deposit of € 25. You are obliged to return this temporary OV-chipkaart within one month after the expiry of the temporary season ticket. After that, the temporary OV-chipkaart is invalid. If this OV-chipkaart is in good condition, you will receive a refund of the € 25 deposit. You can only hand in this temporary OV-chipkaart at the OV Service shop in the central hall of The Hague Central Station and Centrum-West Station in Zoetermeer.

• You keep the same season ticket

This temporary OV-chipkaart carries the same season ticket as your OV-chipkaart that was stolen, lost or broken. The travel rights are the same as your original season ticket. If you have a Regio abonnement, the temporary abonnement is only valid on HTM's tram and bus lines and RET's bus, tram and metro lines. If the original season ticket is also valid with other carriers, please check their website to find out how you can travel temporarily (ebs-ov.nl, arriva.nl). The duration of the temporary season ticket is 4 weeks or less in case your original season ticket expires earlier. This temporary season ticket is only valid as a ticket for the original season ticket holder.

• Balance on your temporary OV-chipkaart

You can also put money (balance) on this temporary OV-chipkaart. When you return this OV-chipkaart you will receive the remaining balance (up to a maximum of € 30) back from HTM. You can also transfer the balance to another OV-chipkaart. If you hand in the temporary OV-chipkaart with a negative balance, you must pay the difference on the spot.

• Products on your temporary OV-chipkaart

You can also put other travel products on this temporary OV-chipkaart, such as an HTM 1 day travel product. Make sure you have used these travel products before handing in this temporary OV-chipkaart. It is not possible to transfer travel products to another OV-chipkaart. And HTM does not refund travel products either.
